Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Did you know that a federal disaster has been declared in North Dakota every year since 1993?

Although disasters are unpredictable there are many things you can do to prepare. CERT training is one way to prepare yourself! This course will be offered “FREE” to every local community member over the age of 18. If you want to become a CERT volunteer, or just want to know more on how to take care of yourself in an emergency or disaster, then this program is for you.

How will you react when the next disaster strikes in your community? Protect yourself, your family and community by attending a CERT training today! CERT is a program that educates citizens about the hazards they face in their community and trains them in lifesaving skills. The program is not all about disaster trianing. It also places an emphasis on fundamentals of care for the individual first, followed by family, neighbors and then community. It also addresses general volunteer guidelines that help protect the community in which you work and live.

The CERT course is taught by a trained team of first responders who are nationally certified with a CERT Train-the-Trainer course.

Program Discussions Topics and Simulation Exercises.

Upon completion of the program, you will receive a backpack filled with safety supplies and a CERT safety vest.

The CERT program in North Dakota is jointly sponsored by the North Dakota Division of Emergency Management and the North Dakota League of Cities. The program is coordinated locally by the Environmental Training Institute.
